Movie starts with Yuvraj Vijay Singh (Salman Khan).He is the prince of Pritampur. He is engaged to Maithili (Sonam Kapoor).She is a princess from the royal family of a neighboring kingdom. Vijay is a egostick stubborn nature person. Maithili doesn’t like it. Everyone his brother, sister and Maithili dislikes him. His sisters Rajkumari Chandrika (Swara Bhaskar) and Rajkumari Radhika (Aashika Bhatia) live in a separate bunglow outside the royal palace.
Chandrika works as an accounts head in a municipal school. She have filed case against Vijay for a share in the royal property. Radhika and Maithili were best friends in their school life. But now they dont talk because Maithili engaged with Vijay. Vijay’s brother Yuvraj Ajay Singh (Neil Nitin Mukesh) was wanting to kill him. He trys many time to kill him with the help of his manager Chirag Singh (Armaan Kohli) and Vijay’s secretary Sameera(Samaira Rao). One day they plan to kill Vijay. They didn’t kill him but Vijay gets badly injured. Diwan Sahib (Anupam Kher) is the loyal worker of the palace. He saves him but hides him in a secret place.
On the other side Vijay’s lookalike Prem Dilwale (Salman Khan), a love guru falls in love with Princess Maithili. He reaches Pritampur to meet her along with his friend Kanhaiya (Deepak Dobriyal). At a bus stop, the Security Head of Pritampur Palace, Sanjay (Deepraj Rana), notices him by chance. He takes him to Diwan Sahib (Anupam Kher). Diwan prepares Prem to take Yuvraj Vijay’s place while Yuvraj recovers from coma. Prem acts as Yuvraj Vijay but with his simple and cute nature. With his loving nature he impresses Maithili. He also trys his best to reunit with his sidter and brother. He gives a big parts of family’s properties to them. His sisters finally agrees and they starts living happily. Now Maithili is also in deep love with him.
One day Yuvraj Ajay and Chirag come to know that Prem is actingas the prince. Now they knew the reality. They kidnap the real Yuvraj Vijay. But Chirag is chaeating with decides Ajay. He wants to kill all of them. But he fails in that. Ajay regrets. Maithili is shocked to know the truth about Prem. She dont want to let him go. But she cant do anything. Prem has left to return to his home. At the end, the royal family reaches Prem’s house. Vijay reunite Prem and Maithili. At last Love (Prem) wins.
